Ebay - GTV-6 BALOCCO S.E > $7,500 and still rising

Post by Michael »

Looks like GTV6 values might finally be on the way up!
This car is $7,650.00 currently, reserve not met and still likely to rise.

Looks very clean - does this belong to someone on the forum?

Hmm, I sold a perfect Balocco a few years ago (60K miles, Sperry Stage 5, original paint, stickers etc) for $5000

The Balocco seller offered to sell to me for $10.5K before AND after the auction, so something is wrong - maybe the $12.5K buyer backed out, or was a shill bidder.

Also there is something wrong with the miles - the seller is a dealer first of all. He could not come up with a reason for why the car would have only 25K miles and yet already have needed new leather seats. He said that "Italian leather is very bad and disentegrates quickly" - NONSENSE but claimed that the car had "never been parked in the sun."

Well, if it had never been parked in the sun, why is there a cover on the dash - must be cracked apart. My GTV6 that I just sold for $8K had in fact never been parked in the sun, had 102K miles, and the original leather and dashboard in perfect condition with no cracks. See here:

When I asked if the pedals showed only 25K miles of wear, the Balocco seller got quiet and did not respond.

You can notice something on the Balocca: non original valve cover. The Balocca cover is smooth, original has lined. I think they had to re-work the engine, maybe a valve job. Maybe they are counting the miles from the valve job, but more likely just rollback (fraud). Or at the very least the odo was turned off for a long period of time.

Don't forget the 116 series odometers go to 99,999 and then reset to zero. It is therefore possible that this car has done:-

25,000 Miles as claimed or it has done :-
125,000
225,000
325,000 and so on but it would only display 25,000

yep, i'm with you guys... everything about this auction is BS... its no infrequent occurance to have dummy bids on ebay, and altho alfas generally have low miles for one reason or another, 25k is unreasonable.

most tangible explaination for the odo is MD's offering, second, it stopped working at a genuine 25k !!

sorry, but i have to lol @ u guys... alfas going up eh? That will only happen when every last one is in alfisti hands. The new car boom definately isn't helping.

at any one particular time, i can pick up a solid gtv for around 2 grand around here.
