Old F1 Engine Development Documentary

Post by 75evo »

I've heard the narrator's voice in many British docs since I was a kid. Love this documentary though. Duckworth F1 engine development.

Just interesting to see men with ties in a dyno room with an untested engine.

I forwarded that link on to few of my petrol head mates . It’s so i formative if that’s what you call it ...mind boggling . Atleast these days you have 3d printing to make the sand box for the castings, that must save huge amount of hours.

Part 2:

https://youtu.be/gqfVAGOaGEc

Names I grew up with mentioned here, Patrick Tambay, Alan Jones. I missed the days of Arnoux, Alboreto, Cheever, Patrese, Piquet, Rosberg, Teo Fabi, etc. I remember Osella was running an Alfa engine and was always near the back of the pack :) They could have used a BMW engine and be at the front..but they decided to learn the hard way... kind of like us haha. These days I think F1 is overrated.
