1962cc AR.164 cylinder head removal
Hi there, I have a 164 T.S with a 2.0ltr engine similair to the 75 T.S. Can anyone give me some information on how to remove the cylinder head? The most important thing which I have no idea about is how to keep the timing of the camshafts, disrtibutors, cranlk etc. Please Help....Desperate!
I already got comments about by brute force so the physical removal is by plain lifting exactly like the old engines. All procedures are the same except the intake cam timing I recall.
To make reassembly easier you just put piston 1 to TDC before opening it.
Check that you have the lobes of 1st cyl cams facing outwards and you can use the cam markers to determine TDC. Guru's would measure it maybe but as the intake cam adjustment is very crude anyway so you practically just need to get it back on the right tooth.
The distributors only go one way if I remember correctly so this is easy.
Make a mark at the front pulley of the crank to check later that the engine didn't turn. (our 164 had the mark on the pulley but no pointer at the block).
