V6 engine value
Fellow GTV6ers,
I'd like to get an idea of the (mean) retail value of a second-hand GTV6 engine.
I have one but my mechanic refuses to use it as a parts donor, since he prefers to use new parts and restore my V6 from scratch (you may have seen pics of the restored V6 here on the forum).
This means I no longer need this second engine, which should have 130K km (90,000 miles). It might be good for a project car or as parts donor. The only problem is that I have no idea on how much is it worth. Any idea?
Mille grazie
Lucio

Here in the Netherlands it's not really worth that much, maybe somebody will give you 250 euros...
From what i understand they're pretty rare in Italy, that should increase the value.
In the USA these engines might be worth more but shipping it there is expensive.
So it is hard to sy what it is worth.

It all depends whether someone just wants one or really needs one... A few years ago I wanted a 12v 3.0 and bought an unloved 75 as a donor car for about £750.
This week I purchased a used (90k) 3.0 24v engine from a 164 complete with ancilleries for £150 including local delivery. Cam belt is intact, but other than than I don't really know the condition for sure. Had been sitting gathering dust in someones garage for 18+ months and seller said it was running well before, he wants the space, so I think I got a bargain - assuming it's Ok when I have a look inside. Why? well why not!

That's also a factor, trust... If an engine is no longer in a car you just have to take the word of the owner on it that it is a good engine. If you get ripped off you want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
For an engine that i haven't heard running i'm not willing to spend much ( unless i know the seller). I rather buy a complete car and sell off the bits i don't need . Bought a 1995 164 24v for 500 Euros, sold the 17" wheels for 250, scrapped the rest due to a lack of time and space. 250 euro is a nice price for my 24v engine...

usual a original gtv6 engine brings 200/300 euro when really needed, an original complete 75 3.0 about 300/500, 164 12v 3.0 are cheaper, 100/150, 24v with electronic 500/800.
im right now selling a complete 75 3.0 QV 192HP/ motronic, asking 800 eur and i will get it, most people are looking for the best HP with the smallest amount of work, only a few people can do engine conversion by themselves.
Interesting are the prices for specific parts - like an early magnesium oil pan in good condition brings easy 200 eur alone....
