oilpump lifespan

Post by zambon »

I am thinking about a rebuild on one of my milanos and I am wondering if it is really important to change the oil pump?
I would change it if it is advised, but I dont plan to keep the car in question as it is a Verde and I would feel bad molesting it :? Since I dont plan to hang on to this car I dont want to spend too freely.
I intend to buy a gold to modify, another story.
So this Verde is milage unknown and I think I should overhaul the engine for this reason, not because it feels particularly long in the tooth. I hope that with a fresh engine, the car will bring a more generous sum. Which would leave me with a better budget for hopping up the gold once I get it.

WHAT???? NOT GONNA KEEP IT!! BLASPHAMY!!!
THe oil pump on my current motor has 200K + on it and works flawlessly save for the oil pressure sending unit. but the motor aint knockin and I regulary run hard to get around the track and on the highway. we have on ramps in Saint louis Mo. USA that require zero to ninety as fast as possible. In my opinion the oil pump is the least of your worries.
Drive fast and take chances.

Missouri (Kansas City in particular) is the only state I have driven wherein people actually stop on the on-ramp before trying to merge.....maybe Alfa drivers are the exception!

I can also see you have not visited Pennsylvania. Very common there and it even happens here in Ohio. I think a merge test should be a part of the driver test.
