"special" V6 valve shims?

I was reading technical bulletins on the CD yesterday after finishing looking up information for the transaxle. I know, I'm boring. I came across two bulletins that stated very clearly DO NOT use 4 cyl valve shims in the V6 - they will fail.
!!!!!
Now I know what the little groove in some of the shims in my shim set mean, but...
!!!!!
I just set the valves about 5000 miles ago, and I am sure that I did not use only V6 shims. Does anyone have bad experience from using 4 cyl shims? Good experience?
If no one can make me feel better about this, I will have to go back in and dig out the shims. I'd rather not, but a dropped valve woudl be BAD.
Thanks,
Mark
