Does anyone know how to take apart a distributor. I took off the lower spring to try to drive out that pin on the shaft and it doesn't seem to want to move. I don't want to break anything.
I need to get it apart to weld the vacuum advance becuase the ECU is going to control the advance.

Open the jaws of your vice the same as the diameter of the pin.Support the dizzy and using a sturdy punch, whack that mother out of there..I use a little 4 pound helper..It does come out..
Check the offset and re fit in the same way..If the offset is wrong on assembly the rotor will be 180 deg off..
You don't have to weld anything. If its a Bosch dizzy, simply lift of the cir clip, lift the plate above the base plate and rotate until the pin drops into the receiver hole..The 2 plates are now locked.
You will still have to set up the rotor phasing for the ecu you have(trigger degrees vs rotor phasing..)
Thats pretty easy though..simply file a new slot into the cutter plate(Hall sensor)or magnectic reluctor plate to re position it..
If your not sure,Ill post pics..

French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.
To do this all the easy way, simply remove the oval inspection plate on the body.Rotate the dizzy shaft untill you se the max. advance stopper.Simply bend these(One on each opposing side) fully inwards until they lock the advance plate solid.
Re fit the inspection plates..
Finito..You will still have to phase your rotor though..
