antifreeze in exhaust

Found a small amount of antifreeze in the oil and antifreeze condensing under the driver side valve cover(probably under both). Engine originally had crapped out rings in number 5 and 6. So, I hope the problem is with the corresponding head...

Only blows white smoke out exhaust when ~170 degrees, maybe a crack in the head opens up?????

no evidence for sunken liner..

you can't see it, but #5 looks like it's running a little lean..

Got a spare head, will change out the valve springs , clean it up, and give it a shot...

A crack would most likely seal up when it's hot, at least that's my experience.

With increased heat in the system the pressure rises. I'd change the head gasket and keep my fingers crossed. :?

yeah, I have a 50% chance of getting the right head gasket......

Mats: looks like you were right......I did not see it at first but look at the #5 cylinder in the pic below. You can see the leak and the head gasket distortion....(you can see corrosion in the #5 bowl as well)

Time to get my head milled...

I guess the head is a little warped so I put another on to see what happens (with a new gasket)

Hey x-rad,
What are you using to take your pics? I'm looking to get a digital camera and your pics look pretty good.

Thanks,
Scott

Ziggy: PowerShot A510 Cannon 3.2 megapix...it's two years old, got it at target

I take high res pics and shrink them to 1/4 the resolution so I can post them

Rather be taking pics of the car on the track, though....

New head on, started right up, no more pressure in the coolant bottle (I should have recognized it), no more antifreeze out exhaust!!

Torqued to 76ft lbs per manual. For some reason, I think I only did it to 65ft lbs last time.....?

Let's see how long it lasts.....
