cigarette seals

Hi gang,

I'm in the middle of a rebuild for my V6 and I have a question regarding the rubber cylindrical "cigarette" seals used for the crank rear main bearing. I'm having trouble trying to find the actual V6 seals and I'm hearing different stories that the V6 and 4 cylinder seals are interchangeable. Does anyone have any information or experience with these? I'd hate to use the 4 cylinder seals button everything up, and have the motor leak and have to take everything apart again!

thanks

I reused my old seals with some fresh high temp gasket silicone...no leak, but old seal were still somewhat flexible

I'll second that. Build myself a plug for the electronic speed-sender when I put in internals from a wire-driven box, used silicone only.
Sure, not the same pressure and temps as the engine, but I think you're ok.
