valve seal recomendation please

Post by zambon »

I have been looking for v6 valve guides and seals from the usual US suppliers. One thing that has me scratching my head is the option of using teflon (coated?) valve seals. I have read that some people have had problems with these, but the problem may have been due to those parties using them with the wrong guides. I am not sure.

One person that I trust told me that he wouldn't hesitate to go with the teflon ones over the original type. I am wondering what this forum thinks.

read my 'engine tear down' section for my opinion on teflon versus viton..

You do need to either buy already machined guides or machine down your own as the teflon seals(at least the ones from Centerline) will sit too proud of the standard bronze (3.0l) guide and touch the bottom of the retainer (even if using standard cams)

but they are well made and teflon can take the heat...

I prefer Viton...fit perfectly and are known to last
