Hi all, I need to shorten up my harmonic balancer (3 pulley) due to space limitations.
The car, a homebuilt, currently has a 4 cylinder and when I swap the V6 I reckon the balancer will be hard up against the steering rack.

I notice that it has built in counter weights, so what's the impact of say lopping off the first two pulleys?

As long as you lop off the front where it's symmetrical I can't see why there would be an issue. You can certainly add symmetrical weight to the pulley without throwing anything out of balance, I do that all the time for supercharger drive pulleys.

Thanks for that mate, unfortunately the counter weight extends all the way out to the front of the balancer.
I reckon i can get a little extra room by shifting the engine back about 20mm.
If not then I like your idea of cutting it back and then adding back the weight removed.
