I saw this on the alfabb and with memories of hammering out the liners in my old 2L I thought I'd give it a try.


I made this up out some old pipe flanges and a piece of 1/2 threaded rod.
The smaller flange was step turned 90mm to 87.8mm (2.5L)




Studs were not the same length so I had to fit 2 nuts in order to align the top plate.


Too easy

I had to give one a slight tap from underneath while the puller help pressure on it amd it popped out straight away.

Have you been making coffee in your engine?

That residue is caused by not using demineralised water for coolant and it actually insulates the liners from dissipating heat into the coolant water surrounding it. Bad news.All the radiator pipes would have the same deposit inside every tube.

Yep, that's what you get when someone uses straight Sydney tap water for coolant.
And I can assure you its hard shit to get off. I had to file it off the liners.
Don't know how I'm going to shift it off the block. I may have to get it chemically cleaned.

The water connections were rusted out too. These I'm replacing with some brass ones that I'm currently making up.

You can try using the kettle lime killer, or a solution of lemon acid to get rid of the scale.
