what current amps settings for coils

Post by tectoteam »

hello all.

i know its not for gotech...but this can probably serve to.

my knowledge is not so best in electronic problems than in comparison of mecanics:
in the past i have a coil with 8 ouputs. but this shit is so big and have serious longer cables ......
i just bought the 6 coils of a 24v that can be bolted directly on the head covers.

my problem is...what new settings i have to do...

i have a 'french' equivalent of the south africa gotech ecu.
in this one you can set the current values for the ignition.
the picture is the 'old' settings that i use on the multioutput coil.
but these settings comes from the starting maps...so i never do any modification at all, and its works.

but im afraid that this setting can cause a failure in a short or long time...
just want that all works in good conditions.

look in the red 'box' , i have the 3 settings, values are on the rigth
i translate:
-instruction current: 8 Amps
-minimum spark time before coil reload: 500µ seconds
-maximum coil time load: 2000µ seconds

i want taking the more care with the current... in order to have enough to make sparks in all conditions and to too much in order to keep the coil cool.

hope this can make things easier to understand.
