Differences in DealerTune Version 4 and Version 5

Post by aggarcia »

The software on the CD's with my MFI and Pro's was version 4. I saw the update on the website for version 5. V5 has data logging - looks like a powerful tool. Also v5 had something called autotune? Anybody successfully used the autotune functionality? What are its benefits? Am I missing other new features in V5?

The main new feature in the v5 software is the data logging. On the v5.1 software the new feature is an updated f5 screen.

eg:
cold debur is now known as start up enrichment
ignition factor is now known as trigger angle

The new v5.1 software should be used with the Gotech MFI v5 ecu's. Main upgrade on the v5 ecu is upgraded acc pumps and increased cold start enrichment. The v4 ecu's can be upgraded to v5.

In future versions, I'd love to be able to run the software without an ECU connected... So you could look at other maps, and get yourself familiarized before you start tuning... (I'm right there right now... engine not done yet)

I second the run the software with the ECU connected. It would nice to look at the map and make changes without the connection or having the ECU on.

Also more detailed instructions about navigating the software would be helpful.

What exactly does Autotune do and how powerful a tool is it?

I noticed a function called autocurve, but don't remember an autotune function - away, so can't check.

Here is a Data Logging question? Is there any way except running the Dealer Tune software to view the saved data logging data? It would be nice to log several different data log sessions and throw them into excel and compare the differences in curves. The data logging function is very powerful, but viewing in the Dealer Tune software is not that effieicent.

Hmm, guess you need to know the format of the stored data and possibly a header. Perhaps try send GoTech an email for that info.
