What do your bits weigh ?
I'm ( FINALLY !! ) at the stage of putting stuff back into my car and I wanted to know where the weight is going in - for when I decide I need to get rid of some more.
I plan to weigh as many of the bits as I can before they go back in - including the complete engine and complete transaxle.
Here are a couple to get it started - flywheels.
I no longer have a standard V6 flywheel to compare to but the lightened one off my 2.5 came in at 7.3kg and if I remember right (it was 10+ years ago) I pulled nearly 5kg out of the standard one to get this.
The 2nd flywheel is the "new" one from the 24v engine. It is an automatic flywheel with an adapter for the tailshaft - 7.45kg including tailshaft bolts.
The standard 2.0 flywheel & clutch assembly that I was using on my 2.5 weighed in at 10.85kg while my lightened flywheel & custom clutch assembly is a little lighter at 8.2kg - all of it off the outside where it counts most.
Now if only I can work out how to get the pictures amongst the text instead of below it all

if the adress is http://www.myimage.alfa1.jpg then the link would be

Now some big bits -
DeDion A frame, complete with cross member and hubs (no watt link) - 32kg
Transaxle, complete with clutch etc, brake calipers but no rotors - 72kg no wonder I had trouble lifting it out.
and .......
The heart - the 3.0 24v V6, complete with reduction starter. No plenum or exhaust manifolds - 182kg.
Now if I can only get better than 1kw per kg out of it

This is an excellent thread. Just when you think you are wasting your time stripping something out you can start adding the kg's up mentioned above and actually see where you should start and what benefit(eight loss) you will get. What do GTV6 doors, tailgate and bumpers weigh complete.(going to make exact in fiberglass )
With all this info you can plan your diet.

I'll weigh my fibreglass 2.0 front bonnet and rear hatch in the next week or so....be interesting to compare to a stock set. The rear hatch also has an acrylic window fitted.
