Pegging no less!! :D

Finally someone has done it to a Nord, I have thought about it quite often but never had a reason.

But I thought it was to stop them from "walking"/moving?

Bulging,walking,moving...pretty much the same thing in this little space..

What Franco found was that the sleeve was expanding about 2/3rds of the way up..Obviously theres enough material at the top during the first couple of degrees (linear) combustion when pressures are extremely high..
As we know, pressures start dropping almost as soon as they have started ,yet its still severe enough at boost to still bulge the sleeve sidewall further down the bore..and this takes place mostly at 90 deg to center line..
So..peggs to hold the sleeve and help counter the bulging..
Obviously the bulging is minute, but enough to cause some bypass of gasses..

JK and Mike also have bulging problems.. 8)

almost sounds like you need to make gussets and weld them into the block before pressing in the liner

I think the setup from Atocomponenti is the way to go... :D :D

We would have liked to have made a cradle ala Honda ..But alas,no...
Barry,

What is the head gasket used with this monosleeve?

Jim,Hi...We use a stainless ring as described under various topics here..
Its flat on the bottom where it seats on the sleeve, top has 1,2or sometimes 3 ridges that bite into the cyl head. Its bulletproof sealing..Little Loctite gray silicon to seal off the water and away you go..

I posted my favorite sealing ring under the heading about annealing copper head gaskets here..Pics a plenty..
Cheers.

Barry,
Does the Autodelta aluminum lower A-arm have splines for torsion bars (I note the red car is running coil-overs). How about making some copies and/or improved versions of the Autodelta front suspension pieces? PM or email me if interested!

Barry . . have you tried the gas-filled metallic o-rings? I've considered them, but never had any problems with OEM head gaskets. What level of boost requires your custom gasket/rings?

Hi Jes,Yes ,they do have splines as per std...
Thought about this but so many projects, its one for later..

Jim,Used the original Autodelta cooper gas filled rings as weel as the Nissan race cooper rings(from Electromotive)..
When I do a big bore or any turbo it gets the rings..Big obviously cause std gaskets are not available, and turbo`s purely for peace of mind..
Once these things seal, nothing upsets them..

My life is a bit up side down at the moment.
There are a few things that need sorting out, following up on and just plain attended to that I just have not been able to do.

As soon as Im able to Ill get an update and more pictures from Franco.

 A waste of time. :D :D

...never under estimate the power of the bulge..

I hear JK is sending you a nice ticking gift in the mail.. 8)

BTW Bazza, how do you like my new "blow it out yer ear" avatar?

Ok, the dry sump pump plumbing... i'm guessing its set up with a divider in the sump and the tank in the bottom?

Barry, I have thought about making a cradle for the V6 liners, but I have two concerns. First I don't think it's needed for the power levels within the transaxle's limitations. Second, I am concerned about how it will affect cylinder cooling.

That dry sump plumbing looks weird, it evacuatres the sump but puts the oil back into the sump? Is the tank in a sealed off volume inside the original sump?

Are you going to use the std pump as the pressure stage?
