Making slow progress putting race car (humpty dumpty) together again. Got windows in today, fiberglass doors hanging properly and new eingine mounts in. Finally finished that engine mount project . Engine sit perfectly straight. Must make engine brace then straighten up bellhousing mounts and center hangar on prop. Also got my 105 series rear calipers to replace the adjustable v6 ones. Using inline handbrake valve. This just rediuces my fine if im caught on the roads testing.
I have found on my friends lightweight 2.0 gtv his gearbox oil was frothing out breather from a serious amount of heat from a binding caliper. I remember when i broke my last pinion o smelt the same thing so im clutchidng at straws thinking that it was an oil failure that stripped pinion. ( pit marks on bevel teeth indicate oil failure ).
I am now monitoring gearbox oil temp. If get excessively high then will go outboard disc. Just trying to reduce amount of work at this stage.

maybe cheaper and easier to put in an oil cooler for the gearbox or at least some ducting/heat sheilds for the brakes

Some pics of my rebuild process starting off with my fiberglass kit. There is a front piece combo unit already on the 116GTV BRERA post. Took a while to get this right as I never had any straight bumpers to make it from. There were pics prviously but this is fiished product. Made seperate corner pieces so I could hide attaching fixings

Mats , did you see the engineering in my wooden chair(stool) . Hoseclamp and some tension cable.
Jason, im going to put gearbox cooler in and looking at wys to bring air onto calipers with affecting external appearance on car. Maybe scoops under car . Any ideas welcome

Well, the way I'm going to do it is like they did it on the 155 V6Ti. Scoops on the rear hubs, like upsidedown periscopes just inside the rear wheels with hoses going to the rear calipers and GB-cooler.
The scoops moves with the wheels so no problems with ground clearance.

Mats got any pics how they did it on 155 ti . can you do a mock up on yours to show ? Does this work due to different pressures ?

Thanks xrad, wish i had more time. Only got four hours a week to work on car.
Some pics of redoing cage in my garage to follow. I did not have a notching tool for tubes so used steel hole saw to get shape. Then got a pro to come and fix up my spot welds and holes. Trying to be budget hence doing it at home. MD I know I have left out two bars but they will come in as soon as dash is in correct pos then can do that bar under it and engine bay brace.
I had to weld up rear section out car then join it to A pillar section once in car.
