i have done lots of reading on the subject but would love to see anyones pics of this mod.
most people talk about drop spindles but it seems to me the best way would be to put the A-arm below the upright.

hence my wondering if anyone out there has photos of a successful conversion.

any input would be much appreciated.

cheers

Ben

Hi Ben,

Yes the Brick has this modification. See photos. It reqires a special ball joint made for this purpose and a remachining of the arm to fit it. Once done, you will need 16" rims otherwise the wheel will /may foul the ball joint.

This topic has been discussed at length before on this Forum. Please do a search.

This conversion is for a RACING ONLY.

Please, nobody do this for your street car.

Aha,

MD thanks for the pics. i have looked through almost all the threads on the subject but as yet have not seen these pics. are they on somewhere.

what is the ball joint from. i have been looking at honda ones but what you have used look like they fit well.
my only problem is i run 15" wheels.
how much had to be machined out of the LCA? is there much concern for compromising the strength of it.

my car is a dedicated circuit car and will never be used on the road.

thanks for the input... much appreciated.

Nice work Emm Dee :D

How much material did you (guys) have to remove from the LCA to get the job done?

Have you spotted http://www.alfaholics.com/racing_and_co ... 59_117.php ? Except they use a spherical bearing and custom machined mount (obviously for the 105s) to get the job done, along with bump steer correction (as per your suggestion) :D.

I think the ball joint is from a Gemini. Dont know which one.
No problems with residual strength. 2 years of use, no problems.
16" wheels a must.

This has all been done before of course. See photo of 101 series Giulias in the sixties had these types of LCA's.

MD,

Why not for a street car? Well at this point I don't need it because I already have the longer spindle/upright.
