Sorry no offence but i believe the holden 3.8 is one of the worst engine ever. Only because evey P plater that drives them thinks there the best engine in the world, and they sound like poo with the so called "sports exhaust", but to the Australian hoon its the best sound in the world.

Where did you get the motor from ?

and i would love to know how you modified the brake for the drivers side.

We have that engine in a 3.6 liter version in various cars in the U.S. It seems pretty good to me. The 2011 Camaro has it with 312 horsepower, with a stick shift even in a 3800 pound car it works pretty well. That engine in a 2800 pound car should be amazing.

Don't worry storm, this is a different engine. The 3.8 you're talking about is the old Buick 90deg 2v pushrod engine, this is the new 'Alloytec' 60deg, 4 valve with chain driven cams.

Storm , this motor came out of a new Alfa Brera . As for pedal box check out pg 12 on no longer budget race car. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3576&start=165
Any of you guys know whats the biggest capacity this exact block comes in Oz . Just looking at ways to use the alfa heads without gooing to all the effort of boring block from 3.2 to 3.8 .

Our Commodores are 3.6, which I think is the biggest capacity for the alloytec. It would make good sense if the blocks are identical, except for bore size.

from Wikipedia, here are the details on the stock engine:

The JTS (Jet Thrust Stoichiometric) direct injection system was first used in a V6 engine in 2005 with the introduction of the Alfa 159 and Brera. This is not related to the [Busso] Alfa Romeo V6 engine, but is instead a derivation of the GM High Feature engine, built in Australia by GM Holden, modified by Alfa and capable of generating 191 kW (260 PS), a number matching the larger 3.6 L variant used by GM. Alfa's engine is equipped with cam-phasing (variable valve timing) on both inlet and exhaust sides, thus the name "TwinPhaser". Camshafts are driven by chain. The 3.2 JTS engine has a 89 mm (3.5 in) bore and a 85.6 mm (3.37 in) stroke.

Displacement: 3195 cc
Power: 191 kW (260 PS; 256 hp) @6200 rpm
Torque: 322 N·m (237 lb·ft) @3800 rpm

__________________________________________________
Alfa V6 history would then be:

1979-2005 Original Busso V6 (2.5, 3.0, & 3.2L)
2005-2011 FIAT/GM JTS V6 (3.2 L)
2012- Chrysler Pentastar V6 (3.3 L)

Some More updates on this GTV Brera . Must say Dawie is really putting out some good looking work . See how the arches have been widened .Cant really explain what this motor sounds like but it friggin howles and means business. Good to see these GTV's always been expiremnted with in the Alfa spirit. Some might disagree about the Engine but its a genuine Alfa Product which ticks the boxes in our local racing scene.

I was at the track today and stopped in at the Glenwood workshop. Whta caught my attention is this upgrade done on the 3.2 Brera engines NOT just for planting them in race cars but to make those Alfa owners who feel they are been left behind by the new M3 and AMG mercs . I am keeping my eye on the Brera race car . So basically its a 0.5 bar low boost Garret turbo on a bored out block to 3.6L . Pistons are 90mm forged from UK (forgot the name on box), compression drops from 11.3 to 10;1. and best part it takes a standard 3.6 litre Cadillac head gasket.
At and easy 0.5 bar boost makes 300kw on wheels . The non turbo form makes 210kw. I will post some pics from what I see until I get stopped :D

While at the track this weekend , i went in to Glenwood to see if I could take some pics of the Big bore Brera turbo conversion . Must say this is the first Alfa since my 116 GTV that excites me , due to the fact that power goes to ther rear wheels as well and all the parts are technically off the shelf . Im gonna try be at the dyno when it gets there next week.
Some more pics attached.

The collector at the turbo has a divider inside seperating the gasses from both banks to prevent an initail interference . Ground clearance is still the same. this exhaust is ceramic coated inside and outside .
Oh the 8C is still the best new rear wheel Alfa but who can afford that . Atleast you smoke these tyres up and down the road unless the grip becomes to much 8) .
Two colours of silicone are added  but they are just still fitting stuff at this stage .
Earlier I mentioned this is a race car but I was not paying that much attention but its actually for the road - then again who races Brera Spiders . Plans are to make a race car when a cheap one comes up for sale but they are still pretty pricey here .

It'll be interesting to see how long the AWD transverse transaxle lasts trying to deliver all of that torque to all of those wheels pushing all of that weight.
Kind of hard to expect Alfa/FIAT (the perpetual accountant driven car company) to have developed some massively strong transaxle for the cars given that they weren't exactly built for something like production car Rallying like the Evo Lancers.

Duk , i heard their is Brera bigbore turbo in OZ thats running 800hp . Do you guys know anthing about it . Some more pics of final adjustments to this very neat conversion . The original ECU is kept but has 7th injector with a local piggyback sytem called DASTEK helping keeping things in check . its a really simple way of not disturbing the original harness and all other functions like ABS , airbag , traction control etc .
Their is already a new version of this intake being built with six injectors mounted directectly into the plennum .
Interesting to see that their are no rubber couplings anywhere in this prop/driveshaft sytem . Their are two CV fron and rear with two center hanger bearings about 300mm apart.
