Arnold Chatz's Star Modified GTV

Post by Mark Walshaw »

What happened to Arnold Chatz's GTV that ran in the Star Modified Saloon car championship in the late seventies and early eighties. It was numbered B22 and then later as B33. The last time I saw it race it was driven by Nico Bianco and Arnold Chatz was in his new GTV. It was painted a dark brick red, it would be interesting to find out what happened to the old legends that we followed as youngsters. Would also be nice to find some old photos as all of mine where lost in the various moves around the country.

Hi mark , interesting to know that Arnold Chatz has won the most titles in an Alfa ever. He also raced in holland in the seventies . He did offer all his photos to the club . I am not sure where his car went but I did manage to get most of the parts off his alfetta .

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the info maybe somebody from the club can post some pics and info. The Alfette you took the parts from was that the white alfetta sponsored by, if I remember correctly " PAL Television" ?

Hi mark , please if you can dig up as many pics of those 3.0 from the eighties that would be great . That white gtv I believe was the fastest best handling one ever made in SA as a standard car . It made 40 kw more than standard . Note the use of standard .
