Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

Got some assistance from Ryan today - fellow racer and also owner of this car viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4321
Ryan the lucky man gets to drive Ferraris etc courtesy of the owners at zwarkops track
So with his help good progress has been made today.
The steering bush got some treatment to prevent the rubber pulling out which has happend to me before . Took one galv washer , ground the galv off and got a pro to spot weld it in two points . Note you can only do one spot weld at a time and must hold unit ( i was about to shaft then bush and neither sounded good - so unit  ) with damp cloth to keep temps to minimum . `Dont want to upset rubber bond inside.

Took the project2 car out today for some pics in the drive next to my carb GTV and my wifes Brera . The GTV brings style to the Brera :D
Project car will go back to be painted this week with bumpers. Im thinking of doing bumpers in red with insert trim in black . There will be no striping down doors or any other trim on the car , except for rear vents and mirrors. The search is on for mirrors.
The 17'' compomotives are only used for road while i will use 15'' for track which i prefer for handling .

No pics to update as I have packed up and laptop is no longer . I will send pics to other mates on forum to post . Was a sad day in one sense seen my carbi gtv given it's Export permit and police clearance . The car then gets loaded on Monday for UK .
Back to project car - So on to do list is laser a tank then get welded . Just doing drawings tonight . Dash should be wrapped end of this week . It was so bad so anything is an improvement . Gearlever for the M3 box is been redesigned . Makes changing sooo much easier . Those are interesting pics . Atleast bm stuff Can be significantly improved .
I am running out of time but should make it as I have just finished full service and cam belt change on the 12v carbi with new wateRpump . That took 10hrs . Trying to fit work in is a problem :D

Thanks Giuseppe postings pics as all my stuff is on water to uk . I am still here for very short while while I try finish car and wrap up . Took absolute ages to get this clutch right but jury is still out on thrust bearing as I converted a flat face to round face which you need for these clutch fingers .
My dash has been wrapped . Not great but infinitely better than before . Will start welding up tank this weekend but spent full day drawing it after making it out of cardboard first . I know its not ideal for racing but in terms of safety and rules here it's works well . I will send pics to Joemart to update for me .

Kev,

Sorry off topic, but do you have plans on coming for the US Alfa convention? Only 11 hrs LHR-SFO direct. A few 75 race cars gonna be there, including some Serf African big bores. 2-days of track fun at Infineon raceway.

BTW, are the rear arches widened? I plan to put 1" H&R spacers with extended wheel bolts. what was done to the arch? Cut small slots perpendicular to the radius of the arch and pull it then re-weld the slots? I need to do that. The 75 have impossibly small wheel arches. The track is also incredibly narrow compared to things like the E36. I have 17X8 ET30 wheels and am planning on fitting 235/40/17 Nitto NT01 tires on the car.

Adding extra 1" spacers on each side would make it.....well at least look cool. Then I plan to put a wing like the one on Niclas Rosengren's car.

75evo , cutting small slots to widen and then welding will work as that what was on the 155 . I only needed 20mm so could still rolled it out with tyre on . The lip inside must be filled with silicone otherwise it fills up with dirt and rusts .
Maybe next year I will make it the states but at this stage will be trips to and from serf Efrica to visit the folks .
Been struggling to get my 164 starter to fit as the adaptor is for standard GtV starter so making some mods at this stage .
Regarding the tank , it will get a surge tank inside where the return will run into . The surge tank will also protrude 70mm under . I have made three compartments with baffle plates and hole just big enough to pack " sponge" in . The tank will hold 36litres and falls 40mm to the surge bottle . It also tapers in two directions as can be seen in pic.
Basically I am trying to copy my old set up but all combined in one tank . It's such a win when your mate owns a laser cutting factory and is Italian . So he makes time for my strange drawings to be captured , corrected . Wait until you see the floor mats made out of 2mm alumin with anti slip holes cut in and the Alfa GtV 6 logo :D
