As you can see from the topic I am getting my hands dirty again and building my last track race car before my age is moving faster than the project.

What's it gonna be? Well, it has to be a transaxle true to this Forum. I have built an Alfetta, an Alfetta GT and so it's time the progression goes to the last of the transaxle series, a 75 sedan. Personally, I feel that the 75 is the best made consumer vehicle that Alfa ever made.

So guys, let's do what this site is known for when doing projects- COLLABORATION. I am going to leave my final plans as a clean sheet. I have got some loose ideas of what the car should have but I am happy to take your suggestions of what the modifications should be. Pretend it is the car you want to build one day and tell me its make up. Let your head go but be practical.

Here is the loose prescription:

It will be a dedicated track car
Single seat
Not intended to be used for drag racing or drifting
Completely stripped out and refitted for the purpose.
Power should be limited to about 225Kw and 400Nm torque all flywheel. (Got to keep that gearbox in one piece)
Should rev to 7500 rpm max.
Only electrics are engine related and a stop light

As usual smart arse comments are part of the medicine cabinet contents here as long it is intended to entertain all the readers. Naturally you give some you get some.

So here we go and let's hope we get it done and dusted through 2020.

Look toward to this project MD . My mate here in UK who races the black 75 in the Alfa series and now into a mixed series realised there are no other transaxles running with owners pushing development on suspension. Obviously everyone would shout yeah yeah it's all been done before but here we are having to fit within rules that say for example .. Intake and plenum is free but you can't increase the number of throttles, ie no throttle bodies allowed. Suspension has to be Alfa or what was homologated at the time but you can modify the alfa suspension quite a lot however no tubular arms. ( which is already on the car ).
Also we can't go 24v which is currently in the car .
So having said all that what constraints apart budget are we looking at .?

I'm thinking a super light weight 75 with everything practically hole sawed like a Swiss cheese. Rear doors so thin that they are permantly locked with a lightweight latch . No fiberglass doors as found weight saving vs effort does not even come close .
But light weight bonnet and boot .
Maybe some clever clipped on under trays front and rear with some attention to airflow ..
17" wheels but some thought on getting those A arms not pointing skywards while having the car sitting so dam low .
Well sourced 17" wheels that don't weigh a ton either !! That's our problem we have . Bad first purchase !!
Motor hmmmm thinking must be off the shelf and to keep the gearbox in place I would probably sacrifice handling and stay away from a 1.8 turbo but probably a 3.2 or 3.0 screamer . ( 24v ) . Tough ask on 225 kW. Unless you can have some decent software to run a turbo 1.8 keeping the torque down .
I was thinking the other day of finding a crashed giulia or stelvio and using that 2.2 turbo motor in my GTV . Just thoughts

Thanks for your suggestions. Leaving nothing off the list ATM. Fortunately I am not bound by any so called rules. I can pretty much do what I want. Certain tracks just encourage drivers to let the steam off on the track instead of carving up the road and themselves and so the regulations are very liberal.There are other tracks regulated by CAMS ( Confederation of Australian Motor Sport ) are about as strict as any proper circuit on the planet.
I don't use those tracks.

Getting on with the basics while I am waiting on specialised parts.

Looking very impressive ! Md what about the cage going through to the shock towers and a few and inermittant welds around the all the structure work in engines bay. My old race car used to bend before I added those bars in and crack around joins below windscreen. Yes the coil overs were 230kg/cm
Ahhhhhhaaaa I still see you're in the process of welding so won't jump the gun. You can in European rules on cages drop to 38mm on door bars and bracing. Good quality notching of pipe work ! Worth throwing a few extra welds around the antiroll bar pick points while you got your sparkler out

Md , looking at the above pic and if money grew on trees ( like in Greece ) it would be nice to see some IMSA arches on th car
By the way your clutch inovations with the spider cage are keeping my friends black 75 in the UK and few other big bore GTVs alive and kicking in SA . Just glad you never put a patent on it

The cage is basically just tack welded in place. The engine bay components I will install when I know what sort of engine I will put in it. I will do my usual stiffening treatment to deal with the loadings of the coil over suspension. At the moment I am welding in some reinforcements to the front sway bar which is too light for track work. As is, I think it would simply just crack. I will put up some photos of the revision. I will do a before and after job.
I actually have the big wheels to fit the car and would love to work on the guards as you say. My problem is I cannot get tyres big enough to fit those rims so it would look goofy to have a set of cheese cutters in big bag fenders

WW. You're not well known to me but I have a feeling we are going to become brothers in arms. About two and a half years ago I had a serious discussion with an engineer friend of mine on the question of how to provide some "supplementary" power to my existing car. The sort of thing that some Nitro injection could be used for in a short duration such as rounding somebody up before the next corner. Well, this "supplementary" power ranged from a chain driven hook up to the propshaft at the rear coupled up to a two stroke motor cycle engine that would fire up using and electric clutch and versions on the theme. The other versions included electric power coupled up the same way and went as far as doing some planning on distribution of the battery weight. So, nothing wrong with that suggestion at all - I have already been there.

Md, have you got any spare 4C engines lying around. Ironically I have a mate fitting a Giulia Qv twin turbo motor in his 4C .. after lengthening the chassis. Rule 1 it also has to be Alfa to keep a soul in there
