What are you guys using these days for materials?
Chrome Molly?
Aluminium?
Mild Steel?
If you are using Chrome Molly, what do you make the gussets out of?

The only way to go in Australia is CDS. CAMS only allow CrMo if you spend the bucks to get one of the 3 CAMS certified engineers to physically test and approve you cage (in NSW or Vic only). Same goes for if you step outside the CAMS approved guidelines.
Best bet - read appendix J of the CAMS manual to stay race legal here.

Original AR spec for the gtv cage (1982):Al,Zn4,5Mg1. Tubes 40mm with 1,5mm wall thickness, 30kg/mm2 elastic limit, 36kg/mm2 tensile. Total weight including hardware:5,4kg (hahah, this is real!)
This type is not FIA acceptable now.
The 75 had 4-5 homologated cages, here are two: One made from 25CD4 (??), 38mm tubes,2mm wall thickness, 55kg/mm2 elastic limit, 80kg/mm2 tensile, total weight 32kg.
The other: Al,Zn,Mg1F35, 38mm tubes, 3,5mm wall thickness, 24kg/mm2 elastic, 35kg/mm2 tensile, total weight 22kg.

I don't know where exactly,but someone has asked about roll cage construction for gtv/75?? Anyway I took some pics today of the 1,8T and will try to post them here. If you don't see them, send me your email address and I'll send them off to you, that, I know how to do!
This is a daily used road car and my quest was for something that doesn't interfere with passengers and is the least visible from outside. Its exactly the same design with the cage in my 3liter. It added amazing stiffness to the 17 year old chassis and about 35kg! The rearmost fixing point is the wheelwell inside the trunk.
Floor mounts are fabricated gussets welded to sills/floor,on which cage is anchored, 3 bolts/base. Total 8 fixing points, 4 floor/sills, 2 rear wheelwells, 2 on upper seat belt mounts (B pillars). The whole thing cost me 1000Euros even, I believe its afair price for an excellent job. Only downside is no sunshades! Can't have everything!

I just picked up a GTV6 with an autopower bar in it, any good? Is it legal to race in most places/clubs?

You would have to check with your local (national) rules, these things tend to vary a lot!

For an amateur use I have a ex: Homologate aluminium 6 points Roll-Cage.
The good think is this weigth : 15kg against 25kg for the steel one.

The back seat is for keep road looking for don't attrack the Police Officer !
But during the track there is no back seat
Don't remember that's my car to go working every-day

Looks very nice indeed.
Unfortunate that alu isn't allowed in any racing anymore. Still improves your safety enough for club days.

Yup,Ally cages are out like Aussie sheep on a Sunday...Not allowed in S.A. at all..

Hold the fort here.
The majority of guys on this site wanna have a go a modifying brakes, put more neddies under bonnet (hood for those who need english lessons)
poke about with changing transaxles exhaust systems and just about anything you care to name.
So when it comes to roll cages, all of a sudden the brains are out to lunch and you gotta buy one? Why not get a hold of the rules that apply for the type of event you want to be involved in your locality and using the approved design, make one yourself? What's with the freeze?
Here's a photo of the one I am currently building for my Alfetta sedan. Obviously it is in progress so keep that in mind. It is made from 44.4mm OD x 2.5mm wall CDS (cold drawn seamless) tube for the main hoop and 38 mm for the rest. OK, it's not a cakewalk but if you guys can transplant a 164 donk into a GTV6, you can do anything! Have go. It will save you thousands!
