Hi All
Not sure if this is a good place to shout about selling my GTV, but hey, you never know.
Its listed on EBay, but would drop a bit for a good owner to look after her. My Lancia monte carlo project now needs the funds and that's my first love, this was my mistress in the mean time !

I bought this car as a non runner on spec from eBay around 18 months ago. When I saw it I wondered if I had made a mistake , low miles but otherwise in pretty poor order. It had stood on the owners drive way for 5 years ... A chap in Southend , who bought it as a project and never got around to it . However he had kept the original v5 documents , and so I wrote to the previous owner on the off chance . To my amazement they replied and gave me the history to the car .

Bought new for a oil company in park lane , and run as a company car, it was then bought from the company by the driver when he let the job. This chap was involved in British touring cars and was friends with Colin chapman of lotus fame . Colin had been in the car several times. The car wanted for nothing , but when a misfired was diagnosed by a main Alfa dealer in Central London as needing new pistons the car was laid up, and the work undertake by the garage . On having it back , the owners son realised straight away something was not right . An engineer himself , and trained Ferrari mechanic , he took the matter up with the garage , and demanded that they supply parts so that he could carry out the rebuild himself , as , if no cooperation was had , the Alfa owners club would be told about the conduct of the garage owner who was apparently president of the club at the time .

So he set about rebuilding the engine . The work done is set out below . He bought a second car of similar miles with the intention to use it as spares , and took ownership of the car from his father . However after the initial build , time and money ran out , and circumstances meant he sold it to the chap in Southend , together with the parts of use from the donor car..The conversation and since meeting with the original owners son confirms the mileage as genuine , and gave me a lot more detail about the car. I can provide full contact details , and will with any sale so that you can verify this all for yourself . I have since seen him after the car was finished , and he was delighted to drive his loved car once again .

So effectively this is a car with 38000 miles and an engine completely re built and with less than 1000 miles of running in . Combine that with the work that I have had undertaken , and this becomes a genuine classic low mileage collectors piece .

The work under taken by the original owners son included :-
new big end,
oil and water valves,
skimmed
race cams
new rings seals and inner linings.
New pistons from a Volvo apparently to fit the slightly larger bore .
I bought her , and took her to RDS Motorsport in Rochester who the set about restoring her, which included :-

Removed rusted sections and fabricated / fitted inner wing splash guards
Cut out and repaired rusted roof sections
Replaced rear tail gate
Cut out all rust and repair to drivers door.
All rusted front inner and outer wing sections cut out and new sections replaced or fabricated. Result is a rust free solid car which remains extremely original .
Dismantled front brake assembly’s skim discs and reassemble
Fabricated and fitted new grill support
Replaced cam belts and fan belts , with new bearings and tensioners .
Replaced rear springs with harder SPAX springs
Replaced all shock absorbers with SPAX gas adjustable shocks
Replaced ALL prop shaft coupling donuts with high performance.
Replaced Drop links
Replace all engine mounts
Replaced ALL suspension and wish bone trailing arm bushing
Replaced centre propshaft bearings
New anti roll bar bushes and shafts
New Washer bottle
New bonnet Release
Fitted period rear seat belts
New Fuel pump and filter
Re sealed brake unions
New spark plugs, distributor cap and leads
Refurbished window motors and guides

The Car was then prepared and re-sprayed the original silver over grey.

I have all photographs of all the extensive work undertaken, and from original purchase so if you want to see any more please just ask .
I have the original alloys that come with the car , but have just refurbished a set of revolutions which are also shown in the pictures and are now on the car. They are mint , and fully re worked by spit and polish of Tonbridge .

The Car is Mot'd until January 2014, but will be sold with a fresh service and mot if sold at the asking price . This will be done by Bianco auto developments in smallfield . They are Alfa racers and specialists who have carried out other work on the car since . They also can be contacted to confirm condition etc and the work done .

She is 29 years old, but the interior is virtually mint, and stands as testimony to the mileage.

Inthe last three months I have had a complete gear box re build with new gears and syncros, using parts from a spare gear box I had, as well as a new high performance fuel pump , fuel filter , and flushing of the fuel tank after I had supply problems with the old pump . That was all done Bianco autos as above , and I have all the bills . The car has lots of spares with it including , spare clutch , complete spare cylinder head from a 33000 mile car , plenham , drive shafts , seals , rear screen , distributor cap and leads, rear window, numerous badges door handles locks etc etc etc . You will need a large car to come and take the spares away .

All the electrics work , no stereo but original rear speakers and I've not wanted to cut the door cards to fit one so it's up to you what you want to do.
