Exhaust question

Post by GarthW »

Just wanting to know if a 3" exhaust would be too loud?
I thought i'd like to drop the whole exhaust, and tig weld a full stainless
system exactly the same, either 2.5-3", but not sure if a 3" would be too much?
Anyone here running a full 3" by any chance?

You might have wanted to tell us (in this thread) that you are putting a turbo on it... :P

Go for 3" first part and go down to 2.5" over a long length of pipe.

Hi Guys

Anybody know of a decent exhaust shop in the Central Gauteng area, as my exhaust is getting a little worse for wear. Hopefully a shop that has experience with GTV6's and can give me some useful info. :?

Regards.

Yes , I have been using powerflo in Lombary east ,2 km from greenstone. Speak to butch and discuss what you would like . He has just done z3 cars for me BUT you must let him know EXACTLY what you want in if not sure give me a shout .
Wildact in primrose are great but charge like a wounded buffalo . Their quality is great.
Another great place is in meyerton where we are having our dyno day on Saturday with the alfa club . Worth checking out first .

Hmm, I don't like the term "snail" for a turbo. It just sounds slow. To me a turbo looks more like a coiled Rattlesnake, ready to strike!

Thanks for the info, I would like to pic your brain as to what would be best for me. unfortunately will not be able to go to the dyno day, have previous arrangements.
I will pay Butch a visit and stop in at Barry to see if he's put an Alfa motor in that Nissan of his yet.

Mark , I don't have a brain :D but I can show you what combinations have worked on the last three cars , and we have been back to dyno to check . I have often wondered if our 6000ft above sea level altitude always makes us search for more torque which changes our design to the" normal"
