Post by kanga »

Has anybody tried the straight through Ansa centre section pipes without a resonator in it, I am trying to get hold of one. Is it boomy and droney?

I've got one on my gtv6 with the international auto "spintech" muffler. To me it sounds great but it is quite brassy at about 3k rpm. which in my car is right at cruising speed at 80mph. I've got the 4.10 rear end. above that point it really screams and the brassiness goes away. but it is a little like having a trombone blowing in your ear. my car has a lot of missing sound deadening though.
PLEASE HELP ME!

Our cars should sound like this:

Not the usual boom mufflers most vendors sell.

Christ that's loud...

I prefer a more silent exhaust and more glorious intake sound!

I must be deaf, I have tried to appreciate the intake noise but I can barely hear it, the exhaust noise is another matter, beautiful, my centre pipes are on the way, if they are too noisy I will put the centre resonator back on.

The Ansa straight through arrived, they don't fit the non cat spec cars , the pipes are too short. I managed to get it connected but the sound was dreadful, it sounded like an old Bedford truck without an exhaust.
Perhaps with the catalytic cars it sounds great but not with the non cat cars.

I just got my 3.0 going and I used an old Shankle header set, a new magnaflow cat, a magnaflow resonator, and the Ansa stock relacement back box. The system is relatively quiet and lets you hear the car when you get on it. I do still have all the sound insulation and interior in my car. The car is a 83 GTV6.

Does the car lose torque by removing de center resonator? Can we damage the valves doing this specialy in no cat cars?
