The cat's pi$$

Post by Bruce »

I often see a black Ferrari (new) California. It has a very loud exhaust, don't know if it's standard but sounds like a $hitty cherry-bomb with bits of the exhaust system missing. Can't hear the engine at all, and God knows what it sounds like inside. Most bizarrely, I have seen three McLaren MP4-12C's, and in comparison they are very quiet. In fact, every Ferrari I have seen / heard or watch on You-Tube just sounds horribly loud.
Now, my 75 sounds very fruity - standard exhaust with straight-through downpipes, and I can hear the tuneful engine change its note across the rev range. I have to admit, it gives me a buzz every time I get in it. It's also quiet when cruising, which seems to be an Alfa trait, great GT cars, and plain manic when I'm in the mood.
So there you are, Ferrari's are cr@p, although I would love to have a 400i...
