With the oldest GTV6 nearing 40 years in service, a forum to document projects and restoration seems sensible.

Alfetta GT -> GTV6 conversion

Post by alfahaze »

Hi.

I am in the middle of converting a 1975 Alfetta GT to be GTV6-like. I have a thread running on alfa owner https://www.alfaowner.com/threads/alfet ... 6.1213961/ But I will try to return here.

I have engine mounts from a 3.0 75 , a 3.0 V6 12v engine, and 3.0 transaxle. I'm trying to get the driveshaft lined up using a self-made laser tool.
The deDion hanger has the 10mm plates added from the 75, and the gearbox has the 75 front mounts. There is not much room above the clutch housing.

The engine mounts are loose-mounted for trial using location templates I made from the 75. I have shimmed the rear engine mount so the crank centreline lines up with the clutch spider. However, when I try to align the clutch spider with a laser to the engine it is way way off, and the only remedy appears to be to lower the rear gearbox mount by 41mm. This simply can't be right, can it?
