Porsche 944 Turbo caliper project

Hey Guys:

My big brake kit arrived at last!
The disks are 310mm and will use a spare set of 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo calipers. Yes, I'll grind off the Porsche badge before fitment and likely paint them red too :) These are 4 piston Brembo calipers and are well proven.

I'll post more pics when I install them ... and see if they will fit under my 16" wheels

For now, the plan is to use the standard master cylinder and potentially install a brake bias valve. I also have the rear brake kit on the way - installing the SZ Zagato (ES30) vented rear disks and caliper spacers.

Cheers,

Hi Enzo:

I got everything from Alfa Parts Exchange - Larry Jr. has this kit installed on his race car.

Hi,

What is the part in the 1st picture? Is it the caliper mount?

Hi mike,
very nice 4pots up front!:)
regarding the rear SZ parts,
What else does one need in order to complete the installation of the rear vented discs? (besides the calipers spacer inbetween its 2 parts and the discs themselves) ?

Hi Guys:

As Giulietta24vTT said, I'm installing the SZ (ES30) vented disks in the back. Besides the disks, spacers and seals, I have some rebuild kits for the calipers. I know I might run into some clearance issues between the exhaust pipe and the left side caliper - I'll see. Ducting would also be a very good addition, just to keep the brakes as cool as possible. I'm still trying to work out how best to implement that :?

It all seems to fit nicely:

These are 16" wheels - I reckon the disks are a bit too large for 15" wheels. All that still needs to be done is to figure out the plumbing. I'll have to check out how the brake line is connected to the caliper in the Porsche - it helps to have the latter sitting just one meter away :)

It all still looks a bit grimy - I'll rebuild the caliper and repaint it and the bracket before completing this installation.

great. :)

also michael,in my opinion; fit the cross over tube down instead of the top of the caliper.

if no, should be a headacke to bleed the brakes.

lol, understatement... :D

Funny that this is the exact thing I asked about in another thread, swapping the pipe and bleed nipples that is.

Looks like it's going to be a sweet setup once cleaned up, got any weights on that setup?

Great point in regard to the cross over tube - I'll switch it.

I'll take some measurements for comparison before installing finally. The 951 caliper is very light - comparable to the stock Alfa caliper probably. The disks are obviously a lot heavier, but its got an aluminium hat which helps keep the weight down.

Installing the SZ disks tomorrow :)

also Michael...

where do you buy the rear vented 250mm sz/rz discs ?at alfa dealers.....there is no way, discs are out of production.

for improve the rear first i thinking to fit some 290mm*20mm discs and keep the original but moved calipers in order to keep the hand brake manual by cable, and for keep it very cool...
but .... disc would probably be close to the ground.

i think......first begins with a set of vented rz/standart caliper good pad, and see if it stay in standart temperatures......eventually + ducting cold air.

ok... :D i take a look...
also sell the enlargment kit for caliper.

for 150$ it's not so cost in my opinion in regard of the cost this should cost me in france.
the longer bolts and the retainer shouldnt expensive, but bor the spacers...must be rectified to have the same heigth and be perfect //.

i'll send an enquiry to performatek. discs and kit.
