Stainless Sleeve for E-brake mechanism

Post by shures »

MD,

I went back and read your post again, more carefully and you do indeed refer to the ebrake part. I agree with you completely and will be sure to address that part when I rebuild mine later this year.

My post wasn't really addressing you though. A few month ago I learned that Stainless Steel Brake Company here in the US was no longer doing rebuild work. I contacted 4 or 5 other rebuilders (most of the others on the internet seem to be reselling SS Brake Company stuff) and all but one recommended a stainless sleeve. I asked a friend of mine who is an accomplished restorer for his opinion and he pointed out the the moving part is the one that would destroy the seal. I just want to make sure that when Greg and all the others who follow him part with their hard earned cash, they get their money's worth.

Now I will too because I am going to address that ebrake bore.

Thanks!

Re: Rear Caliper Rebuild Serious Problem!

Post by grega »

hey guys,
i'm have the rear brake calipers removed.

I have a rebuild kit from I.A.P.
it seems to be missing the 2 seals between the caliper halves.

Does anyone have a source for them?

when installing the two haves with the bolts should i put thread locker on the threads?
what type of threadlocker?
how about the rotor bolts? use the same threadlocker?

Which rebuilt calipers do people recommend? Also discs and pads as I am replacing the lot!
