Did it take all these years to decide M3's are that good? There's only one thing though, going from the Alfa to an M3 is definitely a step up and probably the end of the road, unless you like interplanetary travel in a... GTI-R... 8)

Actually I'd rather have a 360 Challenge Stradale to a GTR even though the 360CS is slower. I met an EVO X driver at the track and he said the GTR is just a pimped up EVO, he would rather have a 360 CS any day despite the bhp disparity.

Besides if you can have 1 blonde with the GTR you can probably get 4 with the 360 CS. Not sure where you can put them in the 360 CS though hehe. But hey having 4 blondes and not knowing what do isn't a problem we usually have....and it's probably a good problem to have.

And stop being such a BMW fan boy! :wall:

You do know M3 engine tech kicks ass, compared to whatever you can find in Alfa engines! Its just by chance that we have Alfas just like people sticking to any other brand, don't give me any of that 'Alfista spirit' crap, beemer freaks are the same, just on the other side. 8) It doesn't mean they're better or worse than us, we both smell just as bad, HAHAH!  :wall:
I'd take a GTR, no time for blondes when you drive it! The 360 is a showpiece for pimps -and they have more than 4 blondes to pay for it!

No actually Honda engines are superior to both BMW and Alfa

Now let's talk about oiling a bit. How the heck does the S2000 go to 8500 rpm daily and still last 100,000 miles!!!

Will polishing the oil pump gears and smoothening the oil passage help extend bearing life for those high rpm runs? For us 8000 rpm is a race engine that needs to be rebuilt every so often. But for Honda it's just a street engine...hmmmm.....

Must be a combination of good pump, good bearing material and sufficient surface, good oil cooling, solid bottom end to avoid crank walk and good engine balancing. Did I miss anything? Now in the Alfa, we probably don't have any of those things, so ....I guess we're out of luck?

I might be wrong but i'm think the high rpm killer in most engines is the top end and factory fitted hydraulic tappets for no tappet adjustment.

To start with most high reeving engines need light valve gear and this is the area where higher rpm really has an impact.. controlling the valve bounce. I think most well designed engines would survived high rpm on the bottom end as long as the block and crank are stiff and clearances can be controlled ..

smaller bike engines manage very high rpm with ease..

madza rotary engines with no valves manage high rpm with ease.. older RX7 lumps managed stupid rpm till the rotor tips failed..

I built a high rpm renault F7R lump which could do 10,000 rpm but the cost of light weight titanium valves and caps springs etc was crippling with rebuilds every 7/8,000 miles..

not sure how honda do it so well but they do use some very high quality components and like madza strive to keep vehicles light..

usually its just so much cheaper to add capacity or turbos rather than build higher revving units so these are only normally found in a race series where the original engine has to be retained and every last ounce squeezed from it

Yup, seems to be that way,

Want V6 headers? Wait 10 years
Want affordable Giulia 3.0 TT? Wait 10 years.

What V6 headers? You only wait X months for those -fill 'x' by yourself! 8)
As for the Giulia, I'll think about it when they are available for parts in junkyards and cost as much used as a Hyundai. 2,3,4yrs?
