I see a single coil in the first picture of the 12 valve 164 engine bay - like the US models have... I am assuming that the 2nd pic is of a European model that has a coil-pack in there somewhere - maybe underneath that black cover at the back of the "front" cam...?
So again, another model that Europeans got that we did not! All of our 90-93 12 valve cars were of the single-coil variety... All of our 94-95 24 valve cars had 6 ICPs...
We never had any of the 6-pack coil-pack models here...
Barry, right you are; while the new GoTech ProX will run 6 ICPs and the GoTech Pro will only drive the 6-pack variety on its own, you can add individual drivers and run 6 ICPs with a GoTech Pro.

...to Alfa, or not to Alfa? That is the question...
I believe all the 12v MY -93 and on was of the coilpack/wastefire variety, possibly dubbed "Super".
This is speculating so don't rely on it too much...

Coil Packs on 1962cc Twinspark
Hello, is it possible to install the coil packs of a 155 Twinspark on my 164 T.S with distributors? If yes, from where am I to get the signal to power up the coils?
Thanks
Ryan

bundled spark leads...
Anyone have thoughts on bundling of ignition wires as shown in the parts cd above? Ive havent seen the 164 coil pack setup myself but the part diagram shows the ignition wires bundled tightly together. Ive always read this is a no-no for good ignition performance. Cross fire may not be an issue in this case but its seems likely spark energy is being bleed off. I guess a COP setup would not have this exposure since all the leads are low tension.

The picture above of a 12v car with red cam covers clearly shows a single coil - not a coil-pack - that is all we had here in the US other than coil-on-plug 6 ICPs on our 24 valve 164 cars 1994-1995...
We can't get the 6-pack coil-pack type from 155s here...
I can't tell what type of 164 that is in the other picture - single-coil not vissible - maybe it is there and just hidden from view at the angle picture was taken (behind the rad. - maybe that is a picture of a European car that does have a coil-pack hidden underneath the square black plastic cover up on the back of the front head...
Either way - we did not have 6-pack coils here in the US such as on the 155 on our Alfas...
I stand by what I said - rare (for us then if you must...) The South Africans also "cry" for them, but this does not change the price any - it is just a supply issue.
Back to my original question - anybody use them? Anybody need them?
