For a single turbo application. We normally use a 3" dp up to about 780hp hp on v6 gm engines. Yes the 2.5 is smaller but it's only a single turbo. Good for about 500hp and it starts to make a bit of back pressure beyond the 6000. How do you manage to get that much room in the engine bay?

Barry, I always figured you for the welded tubular type not the log manifold type. Nothing wrong with log manifolds on the GTV6 though! It's the best way to solve certain issues, at least from the comfort of my desk. Plus, as I have said many times, the power limitation is in the parts aft of the motor anyway.

I am curious if you used a custom manifold on the other side of the motor. It seems to me that the stock manifold's connection to the stock headpipe would not hold up in a single turbo cross over setup.

WOw Chen, you can TIG weld? I can only do MIG, I have a small Lincoln MIG (unfortunately using fluxcore now hehe :D ) . Getting the regulator and tank in the near future.

Greg,Yea,I am the tubular type of bloke..This is a daily driver though and I dont want the hassle of having to make repairs to manifolds every now and again..
The log type manifolds I had made 15 years ago for the 12v motors..To this day I have not had to replace any one of 16 2.8turbo`s I did then.
That reliabilty is,in my book, worth using the log cast type manifold again for my own project.I have experienced the performance here first hand and am quite willing to live with the slightly less performance the log is going to give me..Its still very spectacular, trust me..

The log manifold supports the ol t4 turbo very well utelizing the original m8 studs .The x over attaches to a sedan cast manifold on the rhs and goes down under the sump ,or between the sump and x member,up and orward over the lhs engine mounting to enter the log right under the turbines inlet.A 30l std Milano manifold would work great on the rhs,its just that we only had 2.5 manifolds here and they are seriously aneamic in the flow department.

The wastegate attaches to the front of the manifold..its exhaust then flows back and into the exhaust system just before the firewall.

Barry,

The 2.5L and 3.0L manifold isn't too different. But do their actual flow rates actually differ by such a big margin?

Z,The internal dia. of the 30l is way bigger than 2.5l....

The new downpipe is almost done now...I'm a bit uncertain of how to exit the wastegate-either it will dump to free air after the sump area or connect it to the 90bend on the beginning of the downpipe.
P.S almost forgot I need to weld two bungs for Wideband and Narrow band Lambda sensors(damn!)
