They are Bosch and you can distinguish them (Hall effect type) from the large 3-prong connector on the side of the body, just like the one Jetronic V6 cars have.
Today (Saturday) I checked the Bosch p/n: 0237507009

I talked to Slyalfa about getting my Alfetta on the road again. I still am not sure if I should drop the Motronic 10:1 pistons in during the re-fresh, or to keep the 9:1 pistons in.

Since I think I will be boosting the car a couple of years later, I would like to use the pistons that would work best for boost in the future.

Slyalfa was saying that the squish is pretty poor with the 9:1 pistons, and I may be better off just using 10:1 pistons for low boost.

What do you think? I'm thinking of pm'ing Greg on the alfabb if he doesn't respond here, it seems like he has experience with boosting American spec engines.

Thanks for the advice!

I would keep the 9:1 pistons if you plan to boost. You can boost the engine with 10:1 pistons, but 9:1 will be better.

Also you will be plenty tempted to wind boost up after awhile, even afew psi extra makes alot of difference(20-30hp)... and on high comp, they will not last. So lower the better anyway..maybe invest in some forged 8:1-8:5 pistons, easily run 12-15 psi and not have to worry about them.

But also you will be very surprised at what 5-7psi can do...would be a blast to drive.

i have decided to scrape the idea of a turbo set up on my nord and go with a eaton m62 and EFI. i know this is thread is for turbo, but it is about the 4cyl, would someone be able recommend what size exhaust i should use? because it is track car i will be have a side pipe to save on weight and cost. also i will be making a set of extractors up, should i go 4-2-1 or 4-1? iam aming for about 230hp on the 9:1 CR on 10psi.

Today I put the 1.8T road car on the rollers and with 30*C ambient it showed 160whp (translating to ~180hp flywheel) at 4800rpm and a bit over 290Nm at 4200rpm. Mods:
8:1CR (up from 7.5:1).
2-piece special head gasket.
1bar (14.7psi) chip -all this does is decrease advance so knock is reduced, allowing more boost by not actuating the wastegate through the infamous Pierburg valve.
10548...intake cam.
Evo cast iron manifold.
63mm exhaust.
JK210 CD ignition.
Boost set manually with bypass valve at exactly 1bar (14.7psi) and comes in at 3300rpm with the std ancient snail.
AFR is a bit rich (11.4) up to 4200rpm and then weakens almost linearly to a dangerous 13.3 up to 6200 cutoff. This can very well be a sign of a weak fuel pump. All in all I'm satisfied as road performance is excellent all around for a daily driver. In the next few weeks a much better and responsive snail will go on and another measurement will be made.

I found out that my injectors went to 100% duty cycle at around the same revs as where you experienced the leaning out. Stock stuff.

Hmmm, I was under the impression these (0280150152) were 340cc injectors but apparently they are 240cc. Rough calculatin shows ~230cc are needed for 190hp, so you may have something there Mats. Since I want to keep the std looks, I'll have to find similar style injectors with about a 260cc rating and fool around with the pressure a bit...I will also replace the pump first with a higher rating one first, since the std one is on its way out (squeals a lot).

The Bosch 909 unit should be ok.

Right, that's the pump I have in the other 1.8T. For those interested, the full Bosch part number is 0580254909. They go for ~105€ here. I just hope its the pump and not the injectors going static.

I measured mine with a small adapter harness in between the injector and engine harness, a multimeter with the option to measure duty cycle did the rest.
No more guessing. :)

Yes, its the proper way to check it. My DMM doesn't do this. Maybe I should ask what they go for; at the going prices they should be in the 40-70€ range.
