Race seat

Post by ar4me »

So, which race seat do you have in your track car?

I have been looking a little, and it seems that Cobra makes some seats with cabon-fiber/kevlar shell at a price at which the typical brand names only provide fiber glass. My understanding is that the carbon-fiber/kevlar seats are much stronger than fiber glass and also lighter.

Re. the Cobra, I'm thinking of the Suzuka as an example: www.subesports.com

Any thoughts?

I have a Fusina seat. It's from an old racecar and has an expired FIA approval (can't use it in racing). It fits me perfectly and therefore I use it. I have found the Cobra seats to be a little too wide for me. The best is to try a few. They are nicely priced compared to others. About the Kevlar vs. fibreglass; Obviously the Kevlar seat is stronger and lighter, but they are both light and safe compared to normal seats. Unless I was building a "cost isn't important"racer I would go for a fibreglass seat. There are a lot of other items you can spend your money on in a trackcar.....
