Does anyone know what material the cylinder liner is made of on the 2 litre engines? grey cast, nodular iron, ductile iron?
Is there a better alternative to the standard item?
I have heard of several modified high power engines having a liner split from detonation.

from what iv heard, you can get better quality liners for more performance engines.
i know of someone who bought some from paul spruell in the US. they were 85mm and are apparently better quality than standard

try www.paulspruell.com
hope this helps

KingDom, Beninca mono block 3k. Good for 700hp+ and proven to be such.

400hp is achieveable without running into too many issues. If youre gonna be pushin that much boost and rpm into an alfa 2.0 or TS, then the liners are the last of your problem!

You may have seen the silver alfetta gt at the sydney concourse over the last few years with a 1.8T engine in it- 330rwhp on stock liners.

It is a streetcar though, so if youre gonna build a weapon racer, that will spend its life living above 5k rpm with 20psi+ boost being rammed down its throat, the monoblock is the way to go.

DOnt curse and say "Damned alfas", because SR20s need them too, and so do Hondas.

Here and there, and whenever I get a chance, I will be back with random comments, until I have the cash to make some more creative input!!!

Im still recuperating from the shock of driving your schmick car MD.... it has me thinking about whether I should strip mine out and race it, or save the engine for a 3.4L conversion into a 105 for a summernats style show car.... oooooh I need a job!

Speaking of which, anyone know what the new 2.2 engines are like crank rod and block wise? Fark me a hairdrier on one of those would make for some torque and hp!!!
