Greetings gentlemen!

I post some pics of my latest seriously OVER THE BUDGET 4cyl engine project!!!
-Dellorto DHLA45D's ('power-jet' from Lotus Esprit 2.2), mitsuba electric fuel pump
-GTA trumpets with alu plate
-Longer aluminium 45mm carb mounts mated to inlet manifold
-Colombo Bariani cams (12mm, 292 duration), Kent valve springs
-Gas flowed, ported and polished head with larger valves and appropriate seats, bronze guides etc (Head was measured at 111cfm)
-10,2:1 Borgo Pistons and head skimmed for about 11:1 CR
-Custom made exhaust manifold, 50mm ID stainless steel exhaust
All by Vassilis Koundourakis (one of the most respected historic Alfa race mechanics in Greece) with the strict supervision of the guru himself Mr. Jim Kartalamakis!! (Many thanks for your patience mate...).
Next step is to gently add about 2.000kms to it and finally put it on the dyno.
My respect to MD, Barry and JK!!(Carbs forever!)

How much HP do you estimate this puts out at the wheels??

Hi cchan,
i am quite conservative regarding expected horsepower but i will be quite happy with about 160hp at the crank (although there are official Autodelta documents that claim 180hp at the crank with these level of mods).
For wheel hp estimate about 18% loss (as talked about elsewhere in this forum).

The dude spent 3 times what the damn car is worth just for a 4cyl engine! He could have stuffed in a good and tried V6 with 205 REAL hp, sitting in the garage floor! Eat yer heart out, it ain't fer sale, hah! Oooooh boy, when you go to the dyno I'll be there with a camera to snap your grin when you read the power...160hp?? Yeah right and Superman was a short fat commie suspender salesman living in Peru! Other than that you're not a bad kid, I got to hand it to ya, you got spirit! I may even like ya...well, just a bit!

Nice looking engine. If you run it and not only keep it on the shelf I'd suggest air filters.

Jim: There are also guys spending a fortune getting 200 hp of their GTV's when you can buy a 230 hp engine for much less (including rest of the car)

Spending money on old cars usually does not make sense. I bought a 75TS for €500 and then spent more separately on cams, pistons, clutch, etc, etc.

For some it could be a set of 38dd cups. For others it could 2kg of your favourite chocolate. For me it is sempre Alfa.

Right Zamani, what we probably have here is a clear case of Jekyl and Hyde. For a guy whose choice of cars includes AR in the Nth place, writing a book about them is really strange! Hmmm, MD's idea of a brain scan sounds good!
Oh, btw Zamani, before remapping (and no cat):
CO= 1.5%, HC=280ppm, lamda=1.000 at idle=850-900rpm
Had to screw around with the afm to get these values, softened the spring quite a bit (like...5 notches!!)but will restore to std position and try to re-establish exhaust values through mapping. Drivability is excellent, in spite of some minor undesirable effects due to the lighter (~8kg from 11.4 std)flywheel in everyday traffic. I now have 2000km.

Those readings are ok, assuming a good cat will bring HC down. Now on to the dyno!

X has a nice engine there and whatever the HC is on a V8 with 3 cats or dogs doesn't matter much.

Maybe a magnifying lens may help you read the '6' in the gtv6.com ??? Four cylinder engines are two cylinders short in this site!

4 cylinder in line...i hate to...to much of these engines in europe..it is the 'basic' by reference...


also all is very clean like new...this is nice, good job, and rev it longer more.
