Carbon fibre cloth generally doesn't go too well with conventional polyester resins. For most applications epoxy is the way to go. West and SP Systems both make good products. Vacuum bagging is possible for diy-ers using a converted pump from a refrigerator, but simply weighing down the curing laminate e.g. with a few piles of old car magazines can also be effective. For diy vacuum bagging the following sailing website may be useful: www.sailingsource.com/cherub/video/bagging.htm (Quicktime required).
