Mats: it does not make sense to heat shield the other side of the hood...

1) If you were worried about heat and its effects on the paint, you WOULD shield both sides..

2) if you were worried about cooling(hood heat transfer) and did not care about paint, you would NOT shield both sides...

3) of course, if you do NOT care about paint, you would not shield either side

4) and if you really cared about cooling the turbo, you would put two Jag vents in the hood! :P

Vents over the top of the turbo sort it out partially.

The car is road registered, but supersprinted. 330rwhp at last I checked. Motec M800 and all the good stuff in this baby

Its 75 box of some sort- 4.1 diff ratio- locked up and stuff.

You may be thinking the power claims are a bit bogus, however, the reason it seems to not smash the whole transaxle to kingdom come is a few fold:
Its not a straight racer, so It gets driven reasonably softly most of the time. Paul is very mechanically sympathetic, and would not really drop the clutch for kicks. Then again, he doesnt have to- it spins the tyres pretty easily in the first three gears, which is another way to save the diff- with bigger stickier rubber on it, I doubt it would last as long as it has. He also doesnt go ramming gears home extremely quickly, or launching it hard off traffic lights- he cruises around, and gives it a fair squirt every now and then for his own sake.

The donk revs to 8k, but stopped pulling power at about 7500, and around 27psi- from memory!

Wouldnt bigger, stickier rubber be likely to destroy diff more..?

Or did i read wrong..? :?

Anyway this car sounds very nice and would love to see
some footage of it... :?:

Garth,
I think Jules just confused you with his punctuation.

Jules,
Do you happen to know what size tires this car is running??
