Hi Jim!
Tell me please, do you plan to change pistons or reduce combustion chamber volume to get that CR? Or both?

Regard!

I have a new std piston/liner set, the higher CR will come from milling the head.

Thanks Jim for the info! 8)
Right now, i have V.Reintz head gasket, and works very well, but...
If i increse CR and boost preasure (to maximum 1,2bar), do i need to think about some custom made cooper head gasket or something similar? :?

Regard!

No way. Just ditch the std engine management. :)

It may be a good idea to go for a Spesso performance gasket, although I don't know how good or bad the std gasket is with higher pressure. I don't have much info for turbos.
I believe std management works ok for up to 1bar as I drove the pi$$ out of the 1.8T in the track for more than a half hour last month with 35-38*C ambient...this is a 'worst case' test for me. The engine is stock except for a special chip for 0.9-1bar and a little higher fuel pressure. Ran very well, almost keeping up with the much heavier 3liter; 1sec slower due to very worn semi-slicks compared to much better tires of the 3liter. Of course, better management, mapping and a modern snail would make the thing fly but it all depends on what you are willing to spend and what you are really after.

1sec? :)
Not bad! 8)
I can't imagine the temperature around the snail after a half hour of cooking on the track...

I honestly believe in good prepared Turbo Nord. My humbly opinion is: if you spend same money on 1.8 turbo and V6, gain will be bigger on the Turbo!

For example: How much money and work is need for +35hp on V6? On turbo is something around 350euro and half hour of work... right?
Chip, hip, hura!!!

There really is no comparison between the 3liter and 1.8Turbo! 250hp for the V6 requires substantial amounts of money; for a turbo, this number can only mean a chip and a better exhaust system! Now if you start porting, cams, ECU + intercooler changes, you're looking at over 350 reliable hp and a LOT of torque!

14 days of holidays are over...

Hi guys, hi Jim K! :D

I respect V6 very much, but i love my 1.8 Turbo much more!

Anyway... i have one question... again

How much hp engine lose with low octane fuel? Right now, "the best" fuel on the market here is 92oct! :( Turbo "eat" 98oct, right...
Is this reason for maximum pressure of 0,50bar or i have a problem with something alse?
When i set ignition timing on 10" i have red light ON, knocking, and "safety" 0,30bar-pressure-driving-pleasure  .
Right now, ignition is on 8", knock-switch on Control Panel stay in OFF (like Mats say once...), everything work fine but, like i said, with max 0,50bar... :?

BTW, here's something which might interest a Turbo builder.
I know someone who has an original turbodelta piston and liner set. He doesn't need it (but knows it's value). If anybody's interested I can forward the info.

Second hand is your best bet. A great many Fiat and Autobianchi owners used these coils in their cars.

I plan these days (finally) to put 10548 cam on my 1.8T.
One thing was always mad me about standard intake cam:
After 5000rpm engine start to loose breath. Bunch of useless rpm... :(
Now, my wish is keep a low rpm power and put some new life after 5000rpm.
My question is: How to set intake cam? Lobe center timing around 105*?

Help me people!

It's not the cam, it's the comperssor on the turbo that is completely useless. I switched my turbo to a Mitsubishi that has a very small turbine and a larger compressor, the car was very nice all the way to the red line. Everything else was unchanged.

A new GT28 would be even better- flow and spool wise. The flange isnt heaps different either, but there's no point going to any length other than exhaust and chips without reprogrammable management!
Fixing it bit by bit....
