KKK K24-7000 turbo on Alfa 3.0 V6

Post by OrMar »

Say I go completely mad now my GTV finally started after 5 long years (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpHlEobQMf8) and decide to use leftovers from my other car (RS2 spec Audi 220V), how do turbo experts expect it would behave ?

So, we have 3.0 engine, probably with megasquirt, plus KKK K24-7000 turbo ?
That turbo is good for around 280hp in 2.2 5 cylinder Audi engine, developing max torque at around 2000 rpm.

I would probably run it on standard engine internals, with some form of intercooling, and wouldn't exceed 0.4 bar (6 psi).

Also have original 3b injectors, Bosch 0280150737, rated at 305cc/min@3bar, which I would probably use.

So, If somebody really don't have anything better to do, please express your opinions.
:)

Thank you,
Mario

Sounds reasonable.
Quite a lot of work but I do understand the logic.

What language is that? Russian?

Croatian. Russians adapted to our language during Tito's reign as an oath of eternal friendship.
So should Swedes.
:)

But, back to the subject: do you think I could be looking into 250hp with such a setup?

250 hp is not impossible with that turbo. spool up will be very good since it is a smaller turbo. offcourse you can always upgrade to a larger KKK as found on the Porsches if you get bored..

Damn. Croatia was actually my second guess. :)

250hp is definetly reachable, especially since you are ditching L-Jet. :D

What are your ideas about the exhaust manifold?

My expert team would try to fabricate something - will take a month free and re-read all "turbo" posts here. :)

Probably use Audi externat wastegate too, since I'm familiar with these.

intercooling is not necessary with 6psi

Actually I have quite large Mercedes Sprinter IC laying around which I didn't use for Audi. If it fits, I would probably use it.

since im involved in this video ( holding the camera ) and my friend Tomo is cranking the GTV while talking about exhausts on trucks, i have to tell that we spent about one week of reviving the GTV and there is still plenty of job to be done. i suggest you first drive the car as it is now. ( when was the last time you drove a RWD? :D ) 182 hp are quite enough for now. Try to MS it and if you are not satisfied then, bolt that turbo on it.

there is just one thing with that turbos, the devil on your shoulder will always tell you " turn that damn nut on the wastegate . until something blows.

weld the nut...

But he has a point there. enjoy the car as it is now first and make the MS work. when it works on MS you can fit the turbo.

as for the manifold; you can use the original left handside manifold with a cross-over to the custom-manifold on the righthandside. just look for Barry's single turbo conversions ( but be aware that his car is righthanddrive! so the downpipe he uses will not be possible on a european car since there is a steeringrack there...).
Drive it like you stole it...

You will remember last time I drove RWD on the "track": no brakes (now at least we know why), no steering (rack is completely gone), no suspension, no engine (2.0V6), but at least full driveshaft vibrations.

And don't worry, this whole thread is strictly hipothetical.
