That's a lot of impressive carbon fiber work. That supercharger set up must have been a lot of work as well, all that carbon fiber, dual throttles etc.

SO he wants the N/A route to be totally S/C free it seems, hence the magnetic clutch. Is there a real big benefit to disengage the S/C as opposed to your bypass setup Greg? The Kompressor Mercs, do they have a bypass and electromagnetic clutch too?

The clutch is sort of a pain to use. It limits the amount of power you can put into the supercharger, and it's another component to worry about. G.M. Ford, Jaguar, Mini, and most of the others shut off the blower with a bypass valve. Mercedes uses a clutch. The advantage of the clutch is it allows the engineers to program it to come on or off under very specific conditions. The bypass valve operates based on power demands.

In this application the clutch has the advantage of making the supercharger quiet, although with the throttle on the intake side that would be a moot point.

I don't think fuel economy would be much different either way. According to Magnuson the 112 cubic inch blower only uses 1/3 of a horsepower to drive at highway speeds with the bypass valve open. It just doesn't take much to spin hollow alloy rotors that are not compressing any air.

With a clutch system under the same conditions, I don't know what the power drain will be, but it won't be zero. The pulley still spins, and the rotors still spin due to air passing through them (although in the car in the post above they won't spin due to the throttle setup). In any case, the difference is minimal.

Yes it are ronal wheels! the.. teledails, or A1 is the correct name.

Swapping the engine in isn't as easy as it would seem. Alot of sensors have to be cut off, you need to make a fitting for the heater unit, reweld the oilpump sucktube

But there can't be enough great gtv's in the world, so in my opinion, go for it!
