Difference betwen 2,5->3.0 24v

What parts is different betwen the 2,5 and 3.0 24v engine? Is it posible to build a bigbore engine from the 2,5l?

Heads are obviously different and the valves are closer together, less then ideal when you open up the bore and want larger valves.

Which 2.5 and which 3.0 btw, they differ depending on year/model.

2,5 from 156 and 3.0 from 166/gtv. Had an ide to use a 2,5 156 engine(can get one cheep and then convert it to 3,5 or 3,8.
Might as well go by a 164 24v use it over the winter and the junk it and then use the motor.....cheper and easyer.

If you plan on using the engine in a GTV then your better off with a 164 engine...

The GTV6 sump can be used on the 164 engine. the newer engines from the 156/166 use a different oilpump-drive which won't fit with the GTV6 sump.

2.5 can be enlarged offcourse, but why start with the smaller engine if you can get a bigger one.... 8)

The engine will be in a custom built tube-chassi, but of course it won´t be mounted sideways. Way 2,5? I can get a block for 50$(+heads, bb kit and more ofcorse), a new type 3.0 cost like 1500-2000$
Will the 3.0 heads from a 164 fit the 2,5 block? I can get som "scrap" 24v part cheep :D

No 24v 2.5 heads wont fit on 164, the problem is the oil pump drive.
