Garth, I have missed two opportunities to take the car around the track due to work constraints. I will try next Wednesday. Its crazy time just before December shut down.

Its really tidy conversion. Cam covers are put on after all dynoing. Just dynoed my 3.2 GTV conersion (road trim with 63mm exhaust with two boxes out back) today with standard gta set up. An surprisingly :o made the same power as two 156 GTA's that were at gotech to the exact kw.
My 3.0 race car with exact gotech but with GTA 2 spec cams , standard compression but with short exhaust (two 50mm out passenger door) still makes 18kw more which is huge. Conclusion its in those cams and short exhaust. But then again you cannot have that short exhaust for road use even if you do live in Africa.

Thats a really nice setup, would be making very good torque indeed, looking forward to seeing what it puts out on the dyno,
thanks for pics Kevin! :D

Hey Garth,

This is right up your alley mate but that's a pretty bland response from you. I thought your reaction might something like : "Geez Kevin, when I saw that set up, I had to rush to the freezer for a bag of frozen peas to put down my Y front briefs in case I cracked one".

Merry Christmas buddy.

Hy Kevin,

With the big /turbo engines are they staying with stock radiators?

MR2 , most run stock radiators if they are still in good condition with 156 fans. Two of the other tt's run bmw radiators but you have to cut the body. I ran stock radiator on my TT no issues.

Thanks Kevin.

I didn't know how close to capacity the stock radiator was with the 2.5.....as I'm putting in a 3.0 out of a Milano so I figured more heat, but if those monster engines are good with the stock radiatior then I have no worries there.

What do you guys do for gaskets between the header sections? I found a decent old Shankle header that had a copper sheet with the appropriate holes cut for a gasket that I would have to make if I don't find an alternative.

Hehe MD, actually your right there! My initial response was going to be-"Fark that was my original idea to twin turbo a 24v!"
And Merry Christmas to you to mate, thankyou very much!! :D

But funny as it was, i had alot of people steer me away from the 24v TT job, and to go single with the 12v instead.

I'm talking about magazine editors, turbo distributers, was weird...but seeing the pics posted, well i was tempted to trade the 71R
for 2xT25G's!!!! Wouldnt be that hard converting her to a twin turbo monster...

I'm very happy with what i have for sure, but seeing a 24vTT sure gives me a buzz...

Yeah standard radiator is perfect, temps dont go over from when she was standard, but i upgraded it to a 3-core copper, so will be better for the race track.

Zig- the standard copper gaskets are fine. I just use a higher temp exhaust gasket cement. Turbo grade of course!

Seeing that this thread is about "Anything new being done..?" I thought i'd give a quick update on my car...
Heads have been completley rebuilt, all new parts have gone in. Also i'm making new manifolds, well this time
i'm not actually making them, but they will be made with smaller diameter piping which will result in alot more
responsiveness and down low torque, plus once the 0.86 exhaust housing is put on, it will spool up near on the same
as the 0.64 does. Its going to spend some time on the dyno...then once i set up the 2-step, i'm going to throw her down the
quarter mile and see what she does, i'm going/hoping for a very low 11sec ET.

Garth

11 sec quarter impressive.

If I was you I'd be hoping for reliability. So this attempt holds together longer than your last.

Good to hear the car is close to being back on the road.

A piece of advice don't listen to anybody apart from Alfisti who have R&D to back up there advice.

Do you even need a radiator for an 11 sec blast? Just a tank with cold water would do, yes? 8)

Bugger the tank of water, it's just dead weight.
Fill the fuel tank with methanol, double the size of your injectors and then hit the drag strip (after propper tuning, that is) 8)
