Hi guys,

I'm planning to go to the 'Ring next spring.

I'm not decided on whether to take my road/track GTV6 3.0 or use one of Ron's 75's.

The place has quite a reputation, and the thought of crazy nutters lying spun after the next of many blind corners has me leaning for the Ron solution.

Any thoughts?

Save the effort and use Ron's car.

You might miss the power of your 3.0 though. Maybe Ron can supply something faster than the TS?

Ice/Snow...

Zamani,

If you are thinking about adding the Ring trip to the December UK-trip that you and Andrew were discussing, think again....

Uhm, ice, snow... winter... Germany, Waterloo...
...to Alfa, or not to Alfa? That is the question...

Andrew: I wouldn't trust my sister to drive me across the street... ;)
But thanks for asking

Zamani: Check out Stanstead - Frankfurt Hahn on ryanair.com they have seats from 9.99GBP and up. :)

SteveR: Sounds sweet! :D I usually travel light but maybe I should pack my racewear? I've heard stories about helmets in the on-board luggage though, cabin crew is usally not amused at all. Infidels. :D

If I'm well informed there is at least one 3.0 for rent and there went a slightly track prepped 3.5 to Ron......

But a twin will do just fine, corner speed is the most fun, and leaves enough time to enjoy the beautiful landscape going up to Kesselchen

Ring is closed from end nov to march...

Only discussing test on the TT GTV6 - it goes even faster in the winter  .....

May trip to 'ring sounds about right!

Guess it's gonna be UK verses the USA then :D :D

I'll speak to Div, and see if I can fly him out for a week to the UK, and he could join us - hey.... I could get Roberto too - he only lives 10mins away.... mmm, my team is looking pretty good already!!

Maybe Ron's gonna need some more cars....

Dawie, Domingos and Wikus are pretty much committed for March... They will be headed over this way to do a little road-show to various shops here (since they missed the convention...) and they plan on stopping over at the Ring where I will join them with some US members....

SA versus US versus UK versus Euro-fags sounds good... Wonder what ex-pat team I would drive on. (Born and bred Boer at heart, of French/Dutch/German/Irish blood-lines, lives in US and spends mega time on all continents....)

Dammit! I'm gonna have to choose now...

Pinnochios down in Adenau for some Eifelfeuer anyone....?

Is the ring even open in march? The experienced ring-dudes here talk about the dodgy weather during Easter...
Could very well be snow during the whole of March.

Dibs on the Integrale! :D

Andrew: Since UK is in Europe we're in the same team I guess. :)

Yep , end march is possible, depends a lot on the weather. The weather is pretty unpredictable over there. Nice sunny on the start of the lap and half way through a nice shower. Last winter we had no snow around X-mas, and the ring had a nice new 7 cm white coating. Did some passages on a sled  to practice lines.

See http://www.ghbiker.de/nuerburgring_offe ... e2005.html this is the opening table for last year. If you want to plan safe I would opt for mid/end April.

I can recommend a fast lap with Ron as well
