Another Spares "what's this electric part?

I am cleaning out a box of spares I got awhile back and came across this electrical part. It's a VDO component and I just cannot finger this out. the PN label is non-readable. I believe it's from an '82 GTV6, but not sure. Is this speedo or windshield washer/wiper related? I cannot find it anywhere on my '84 GTV6.

I think it's the ticker box that sits under the glove box and after so many thousand miles triggers the emissions light on the dash to tell you that you may be due for a new o2 sensor or cat or whatever. Pressing the button in resets it. I think it triggers every 50K or something.
It doesn't really signal that anything is wrong since it triggers based on mileage - just to check those things.
