Motronic M1.7 on Alfa 75 TS

Post by damtech »

Hi,
I'm new to this site but I have passion for Alfas and I want to share my little experience. Great forum and great cars! Many compliments!

I'm an italian student of electronic engineering (in Trieste) and I own a 75 TS ASN (limited): this is my third 75 (previous cars were involved in accidents, not my fault even if the latter was partially mine...)

I decided to try to install the Motronic M1.7 system of 155/164 in my previous 75 TS so I took an ECU, a throttle body with TPS (instead of two switches), an idle actuator, two double ignition modules and coil packs, and a wiring harness from a 155. There was some 155 (engine codes AR67201 AR67101) built for Eastern Europe marked which were working in openloop without cat so I decided to remain in open loop mode. This was the first start: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=3NbEIeDZjjA

The car ran smooth and better than before expecially at low RPM. No differences were noticed at higher revs.

Now I run with a 164TS (later model obiouvlsy) ECU, bigger 0280150701 injectors (from Fiat/Lancia 2.0 Turbo 8v, got from an '88 164 2.0 Turbo) and a revised chip to adjust injection durations for increased flow of these injectors (homemade chip with good result ;) ). I've also installed a Lambda Probe to monitor AFR (and because it was there, I've also connected it to the ECU together with a change in wiring to enable closed loop).

Here there are some photos (wiring is still 'experimental' and I'm building a good one, with each cable of the proper lenght, in my spare time):

Sorry for my poor English and 'long live Alfa!',
Diego
