Ignition advance/retard 83 Euro

Post by mjr »

I have an 83 euro, but late with the 84 onward running gear. so teh later timing marks.

@900rpm idel when I pull off the vacuum advance line, nothing happens at all, timing remains the same on the "F". The vacuum is working since the timing advances to "M" and beyond from about 1500rpm. is this normal for idle or is the vaccum device lazy?

try putting a finger over the port on the throttle body at idle and see how much vacum there is. Then rev the engine a bit and see what happens to the vacum. It doesnt come on until you open the throttle.

ah ok, thanks zig, that explains it then, the vacuum comes on when I rev it, but there is no vacuum at all juts at idle., i thought there should be some vaccum at idle from cold thats all.

I've seen cars with the vacum set up both ways, so you're not wrong to be thinking the way you were its just that this is different....so many things are just different on these cars.
