Split dash instruments

Post by MD »

I am trying to find out if Alfa ever produced a production run of GTV cars with Veglia BLACK FACED ELECTRONIC instruments as suggested in the attached photo. Potentially these may have been produced in the early 1980's if they were made at all.

:) no problem

Euro Alfetta GTV up to 1981 i think, i'm sure about 1976-1980, had those instruments u are looking for, km/h instead of tacho, split dash, black background, there was also a blue background.

But that's very hard to find here, most of those cars were crushed, even 75's are crushed now regularly in Italy when they come to wreckers yards.

jamal,

That looks very interesting. Do you have any clearer images of this instrumentation?

The reason I say that is because the blue faced instruments were common but are of no value to me because they are all MECHANICAL.

The black faced instruments are ELECTRONIC which is what I want.

Unfortunately the image is fairly dark and I cannot work out it they are blue or black. I am however excited at the prospect that yes, Alfa did actually make such a combination.

If you can positively track this info down, I would be very grateful indeed.

The steering on this car looks like it's a pre-82 car, like a 1979 Alfetta GT/GTV. I would have guessed the gauges would have been blue. However it looks black. There are some instruments which are blue but electronic. You must make sure that it says electronic on the front face.

Oh and according to Greek legend, inability to distinguish between blue and black is an ominous sign :D

Did you say this by chance?? Blue and black are telltale colors of political parties.... My kind of colors.... Euro-parliament elections today....

How interesting ?? !!
I just found out that world doesn't revolve around Oz. :D
Never seen a blue faced instrument here that wasn't mechanical hence my conviction that they all were !
Mind you Zeefa if you have photo shopped that image just to piss me off, expect some rocks on your roof over the next week. I wouldn't put it past some JK/Zeefa teamwork.. I know you pair of "take the piss merchants" like the back of my hand....:D :D

Thanks mate. Now the next step is to find a metric instrument set for sale. Black or blue. I don't give a rats.

Anyone got such an instrument set for sale?

jamal,

You are doing a fantastic job helping me out. Thank you very.
I am starting to get an idea why this is such a confusing mission. Have a close look at the photos that I have identified which you have provided.

Yes, there is a blue faced Veglia electronic tacho as 75evo has pointed out.
However it is matched up with a mechanical cable driven Jaeger speedo for the centre cluster

What a bloody circus !!!

Getting closer but not there yet. Bugger !! :(

Guys, help me out.

If anyone even gets even a sniff of a black dial tacho in a box all on its own or a speedo in Km set in with the gauges cluster and it is for sale, please let me know by PM.

Both instruments must be electronic. Happy to buy either or both.

Many thanks.

PS. unlike some of JK's parts, naturally they need to be in working order. :wall:

Md , all my gtv6 2.5 in SA had blackface backing but with speedo in centre in split dash . They were all electronic . The blue ones came in our steel bumper cars but with rev counter in middle . Also the first batch of GTV 3.0 with split dash were all black .
You can just make it out in this video of this 1983 GTV . ( when the light shines on it)
