Heater does not heat!!

Post by Oversteer »

Hi!

I have a problem with the heater of my car since I bought it, last may.
Regardless the position of the temp control, the air coming out is always cold. I don't get any minimal variation in the air temp by turning it to the hot side.
Should it be a problem with the heater radiator, or is just a simple case of a temp control cable?

Thanks!

Odds are good that your problem originates with the dreaded heater control valve. ( I assume your car is a GTV6 ?) If you look under the dash on the passenger side near the centre console you will find it.First step is to confirm that the cable is attached to the valve and that it moves and causes the arm on the valve to move.
The valves are no longer available and if you look at them the wrong way they will break  so be carefull.
Hopefully it's just the cable.

My car is a 75 Turbo America. Does the same apply to it?

No,different setup.Heater valve is in a different location and of better quality. You need to locate it and confirm that the cable is properly attached and functioning.Perhaps someone else here can tell you where it is located ?

I've located the problem: the clip next to the heater valve where the cable is attached it broken...
Simple job you might think, but there no way I can get there without removing the dashboard!!!!
Any suggestions will be most appreciated!

Admittedly, I don't recall the 75 heater valve setup - Can you reach up in there manually via hand or tool to open the valve? That would at least give you heat whilst you explore other solutions.
